The Burger @ Good Enough to Eat

I met up with an old friend for lunch today and we decided to go to my wife’s favorite brunch spot, Good Enough to Eat. It’s conveniently located in my neighborhood, Manhattan’s Upper West Side.

I usually go to Good Enough to Eat for Sunday brunch and have their superb cinnamon swirl french toast. This was my second time there for lunch and my first lunch since they moved to their new location. After checking out the menu I decided to go with “The Burger”. It’s described as “8 oz. of our blend of ground beef on a pepper roll with French fries, lettuce, tomato and pickle … with jalapeño jack, sharp cheddar, gruyère, mozzarella, blue or goat cheese”. I ordered mine with jalapeño jack cheese cooked medium.

When my order arrived I was pleasantly surprised to see that the burger was even bigger than I expected. The toppings were presented on the side along with the pickle and fries and everything looked very appetizing. I put it all together by adding the ketchup first then layering on the lettuce, tomato and red onion. Biting into the burger my taste buds were met with a prominent and delicious smoky flavor. The beef was juicy and tasty but could have benefited from a bit more seasoning. The perfectly melted jalapeño jack cheese complimented the flavor of the beef well without overpowering it. The pepper roll was the proper size for the beef patty. It was lightly toasted, soft and did not fall apart. Overall a tasty burger that I definitely look forward to enjoying again.

If you’re in the city and find yourself craving a burger you owe it your yourself to try this one.
