Pineapple Jam & Oolong Tea Ganache Cronut
Today is my wife’s birthday so to kick it off I got her favorite pastry ….. the world famous Cronut from the Dominique Ansel Bakery. The flavor for July 2023 is Pineapple Jam & Oolong Tea. Chef Dominique Ansel invented the cronut in 2013, it’s a hybrid of a croissant and a donut. While the cronut is 10 years old it is still incredibly popular. I placed a pre-order but on a Monday in the summer there are plenty of Cronuts available. The presentation was typical cronut perfection. Layers of flaky, buttery dough dipped in sugar, topped with bright yellow icing and garnished with a small dusting of oolong tea.…

Cinnamon Toast Crunch Ice Cream
While picking up a prescription at Duane Reade I spotted a pint of Cinnamon Toast Crunch Ice Cream in the ice cream freezer. I had never seen it before and since Cinnamon Toast Crunch is my favorite cereal I had to try it. I was excited after reading the carton’s description: “cinnamon light ice cream with a cinnamon graham swirl and cereal pieces”. Unfortunately, the cinnamon light ice cream is lacking in flavor. The cinnamon taste is abundant and tasty. Also, the bits of cereal are tiny and few and far between. I recommend skipping this and instead mix Cinnamon Toast Crunch Cereal with you favorite ice cream. Rating: Skip…

Shawarma Sandwich @ Mamoun’s Falafel
My wife and and I have a tradition of going to Mamoun’s Falafel after the annual NYC Halloween parade. Due to the Covid 19 cancellation last year we couldn’t go. Out of the blue my wife said she was craving a pita sandwich so we fired up Seamless and placed an order. For those who are unfamiliar, Mamoun’s Falafel has been serving high quality, authentic Middle Eastern food since 1971. It is the oldest falafel restaurant in New York and one of the first Middle Eastern establishments in the United States. I ordered the Shawarma Sandwich with is described as “100% lamb made with our signature spices and cooked slowly…

Le Burger @ Le Bon Choix
Eating halal only you have to travel sometimes to get the quality of food you feel is deserving of your palette. I found Le Bon Choix from a food blogger’s post. I went with my wife and kids. From that original experience until about a year later I have visited this restaurant about 15 times. It is truly a great experience in terms of service as well as the quality of food you receive. You receive authentic French flavors in the heart of Ridgewood, NJ. I enjoy everything on the menu, but what you see here is one of my favorites, it is the Le Burger. A 7oz burger with this…

Tomahawk Chop @ American Cut
Hey guys, my next review will be on something I love, a restaurant with a chef I love and meat. This next review is of a surf and turf for two offered at American Cut, now there are two locations but the one I visited was in Midtown. The meat is Creekstone so that is a plus and the chef is Marc Forgione who I think is awesome. Now as you can see from the picture that tomahawk bone itself is huge, but this 40oz steak along with about 2 lbs of lobster with chili sauce is definitely worth the $170 price tag. It fed my wife and I with…
